July 2012

Summer time was a blast with an almost 2-year old!  We fell into a wonderfully lazy and hectic routine (how that's possible I don't know!)

We went to the doctor  and the surgeon doesn't see a need to see her anymore (yippi!) all else was good except the hearing test. The was inconclusive at best and showed a hearing loss in one year at worst.... (Audie don't think there's a thing wrong with her hearing as she can hear EVERYTHING!) but we'll have that testing redone at the end of September.  I'm sure it will come back fine but of course they always give you a little reason to worry.  Guess I wouldn't be a mom if I didn't worry!

Along the lines of things to worry about she's now at 26 pounds..... which is 2 less than she was when she was 12 months old!!!!!!  She's grown taller but is definitely thinning out.  It's such a challenge to get her to eat. Reverse psychology is the only way..... We tell her it's our food and then she wants to eat it..... we act like we're going to eat her food then she's interested.  Her favorite foods are oranges (and most any other fruit, tomatoes (so much that she gets sores in her mouth from them!), green beans, apple juice, cheese, cheese quisadillas, fruit snacks, and sometimes she'll eat chicken nuggets. And that's about it! She doesn't like many meats, even the nuggets are hard to get her to eat.
PUSH!

Her hair is typically in a 'pony' on the top, sometimes I can talk her into two pigtails, which are ADORABLE!  I tell her Grandma and Grandpa will love them and then she wants to do it!  Ha!
E loves to paint and color!

She loves swimming in Eric's pool.  Although, she was traumatized when Eric and Dad went under water. (Seriously, she still talks about 'grandpa under water'!)  I have to take her through the whole process and describe how they 'come back up' when they are done.  She saw a commercial the other day for a cartoon with these animals who live under water, called "Octonauts".  She said "Grandpa (is) a Octonaut".  Seriously, the connections she makes are amazing!

She loves shapes and pointing them out. She's still having trouble with the circle (she likes to call it an octagon). As for her colors she's getting better, but still calls everything 'blue'. Then I have to tell her to look closely, she squints her eyes and gets real close and then will typically say the correct color.  I bought her this color matching puzzle, she calls it her 'new game' and she loves to play it.

We went to the Cleveland Zoo.  I laughed because we might as well just have taken her to a petting zoo.  She had no idea that the elephants were something special!  She loved it though and we had a great time.

We bought Elizabeth a little bike with training wheels. She climbs right on and I'm sure before we know it she'll know how to peddle it!

Elizabeth loves playing with her cousins, whether it's on the piano, outside, riding tricycles, in the pool, with the water table, or anything else they can find!

We went to some library times, although mommy wasn't too impressed, E loved it!  She loves to sing and read to Audie and I.  She points to the pictures and tells the story.  She'll have her babies sit with her and ask them questions.  It's amazing what they pick up!  You can tell what I say because some of her favorite sayings are "Holy Moly" and "Hot Tamales".  We get in the car when it's like 100 degrees out and she says "Hot Tamales, momma".  I just laugh at her all day!  Her vocabulary is amazing!
